We have a lot of news, upcoming events and activities throughout your society.
First of all, early bird registration for ESPEN Congress in September 2022 is now open, as well abstracts submission. We hopefully have a chance to meet in person again and this will be an outstanding congress in an unforgettable setting. Application for MNI award grant is open and the deadline to submit a proposal is May 15. The MNI grant of €30,000 rewards national initiatives or research projects for Optimal Nutritional Care. The objective is to support and/or inspire high-quality initiatives. More information on the MNI website at medicalnutritionindustry.com/grant/mni-grant
The application for the position of Early Career Faculty has extended and the deadline is March 31. More information on https://www.espen.org/education/scientific-activities/espen-early-career-faculty
The Consensus Conference on the “European Guideline on Obesity care in patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases – joint ESPEN/UEG guideline” and the “ESPEN Guideline on Clinical Nutrition in Inflammatory Bowel Disease”, both coordinated by Stephan C. Bischoff, takes place on Monday, 25th April 2022, (10:30 am – 4:30 pm (CEST)) online via Zoom. Besides, the online voting for the upcoming “ESPEN Guideline on Clinical Nutrition in Inflammatory Bowel Disease” is now available at the guideline services platform.
For registration to the conference (possible until 21st April 2022) or access to the online voting please contact the ESPEN guidelines office (guidelines-office@espen.org). Participation in the consensus conference does not result in co-authorship, but discussants can be listed in the acknowledgment if suggested by the working group leader.

ESPEN joined the World Obesity Day on March 4 (https://woday.eu/). A few days earlier, ESPEN and EASO had published in their respective journals the “Definition and diagnostic criteria for sarcopenic obesity: ESPEN and EASO consensus statement”, in Clinical Nutrition https://www.clinicalnutritionjournal.com/article/S0261-5614(21)00523-9/fulltext. The proposed definition and diagnostic criteria should be implemented into routine clinical practice.
The last but not the least, every year ESPEN send out an application process to find new Clinical Nutrition and Clinical Nutrition ESPEN Associate Editors. The deadline is April 30. Criteria and application may be found here.
